This cover is exactly what I wanted. My Kindle DX already came with a screen protector. What I needed was something very, very lightweight and well padded to protect the Kindle in between books in the house and protect it in my purse or in a suitcase. This one is so light. It adds almost no bulk or weight and is easily opened while in transit.

The case provides reasonable protection, is very lightweight, and very inexpensive. One pull of the zipper and you are reading, another pull of the zipper and the Kindle is protected. Unlike so many other things these days, this product is simple, effective, and cheap.

I’m happy with this case. You can easily read with the Kindle in the case, and access all the buttons. It zips up to offer a good level of protection. I’ve heard enough horror stories of Kindle screen damage to pack this case inside another neoprene one when it might get additional knocks from heavier items getting piled on top of it, but I’m probably being too cautious. The case also looks fine, I haven’t seen the others in action, but I wouldn’t say this looks at all cheap.

I had seen the official leather cover for the DX with a friend. Although the Amazon cover is nice, it is a little too expensive for me. I purchased this case expecting to get basic protection for my DX, however, this case has far surpassed my expectations. It has a very good build quality and it has ample cushioning protection for my kindle. The zipper works fine on my case. The way I hold my kindle while reading is with the case together and I have not noticed the problem of the kindle coming out of the case (a problem that some other reviewer mentioned). Overall I am very happy with this purchase, money well spent.

Like the previous reviewer, I prefer this to the standard leather Kindle cover even apart from its bargain price. The elastic corners hold the Kindle in for normal reading but allow it to be removed easily. If there is a weakness to this design I think it’s that the Kindle can separate from the case a little too easily: I have learned not to be careless picking it up while it is unzipped, i.e. to not hold the case by just one corner while it is open. The all around zipper is a clear advantage over the $50 official leather case. This case is nicely padded, front and back: that’s perhaps not evident in the pictures. Highly recommended.
